Built for a screen across the kitchen, not a phone

Most kitchen displays were designed for tablets, small text, dense panels, busy chrome. We went the other way. Type starts large and goes up from there. Contrast meets the highest accessibility standard. The layout is tuned for a 32-to-55-inch screen mounted three metres from the pass, so the expediter reads the next three orders in their peripheral vision. No touch interaction, Start and Mark-Ready are big buttons designed to be hit with a sleeve.

Colour-coded age, never count the clock

Every ticket carries its own clock. Under five minutes is green. Five-to-ten is amber. Past ten is rose, call the chef over. Thresholds are per-station, because a pizza oven and the cold prep bar shouldn't share bands. When a line is started, the line gets its own clock; when the whole ticket is marked ready, it lands on the expediter's pass display.

One screen per station, station-routed printing

Each kitchen station, pizza oven, grill, cold prep, expediter, runs its own board, scoped so it only sees the items it cares about. The pizza station sees only pizza lines; the grill sees only grill items; the expediter sees the whole ticket consolidated for plating. The same routing also drives station-printed kitchen-order tickets, so the right ticket prints at the right station automatically.

Wired into the rest of the line

Mark-Ready is one tap that does four things: notifies the diner, dispatches the rider for a delivery order, removes the ticket from active boards, and lands it on the pass for plating. There's no separate database for the kitchen, no separate state machine, one source of truth, one shift, one set of receipts at the end of the night.
